Are You Awake

You work hard (and you always have). You’ve never been lazy and you’re not a stranger to hard work...
You know how to keep a job, you know how to achieve and excel. But the truth is, you’re not being p.aid nearly what you're worth (and truly haven’t been for years).
Despite your experience, education, and being a team player (whatever that means), you are still being paid LESS than the man in your department who:
Didn’t work nearly as hard as you...
Didn’t go to school nearly as long...
Got promotions he didn’t deserve...
Easily makes WAY more than you for doing FAR less...
Has the nerve to suggest that "people like you" are just handout recipients of affirmative action...
Why is that?
Well, let me explain...
For most Black women, we are labeled as:
Angry

Aggressive

and Confrontational (from the moment we step through the door).
Ok, well that’s just the way it is - right?
Are you sure?
Do the people at your job have to explain to your kids why mommy is so tired?
Do the people at your job have to explain to your kids why vacation has to wait until next year (again)?
Do the people at your job care how much useless time you spend in meetings with THEM, instead of making more memories with your kids?
We are talking about your kids...
The same kids who are growing up faster than you can imagine...
The same kids who are facing unimaginable pressure in the world...
The same kids who trust you and love you more than life itself...
The same kids you feel like your disappointing daily even though you're trying to make it all work.
After all, aren't your kids who you are doing all of this for anyway?
Bingo.
I know how you feel.
For years I did what was asked of me. I took out tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, I woke early and stayed up late, I played the game and probably played myself...
I laughed at their jokes...
Put up with their political bullsh*t...
Would go home depleted - every singleday.
I was miserable, worn down, and exhausted...I found myself gaining tons of weight, losing hair in patches, and wondering why it felt like things were going so wrong...
Here's what I found:
Deep down I knew that if things were ever going to get better, I would be the one who would have to change... It wasn't until I decided to become an entrepreneur in the wedding industry as an Officiant (and replace my income) that's when my whole life began to change...
Now, I work with my babies next to me...
We can color and play...
We travel whenever we want and I no longer tell them "Mommy is too tired"
We live life every day to the fullest, instead of living for the weekend...
All because of mommy's decision to be independent and begin her journey to the unknown...
Now mommy is a published Author,  Life Coach and Wedding Officiant..
So you really have two choices...
You can keep doing what you're doing, which is:
Working hard while earning far less...

Coming home exhausted...

and disappointing your kids...
OR
You can make a decision that you and your family deserve better and then make the necessary moves to change it!
So What is your next step?

The War Within

Life is too short to spend it at war with yourself. Constantly beating yourself up over every little thing won’t magically make life better. It’s time to stop the negative self-talk. It’s holding you back. What happened, happened. You can’t change the past, and no amount of self-hatred can fix it. Today is a new beginning. Choose to move forward. You are not a bad person, not a failure, and certainly not a disappointment. You are human, and that means you are constantly learning and growing. What you can change is your future. Remember, your pain will become your strength. It won't last forever. Give yourself time to heal, and take life one day at a time. Every day you make it through is another step closer to the greatness that’s waiting for you. Be patient with yourself. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and it comes in many forms. Be proud of how far you’ve come, and trust that you are getting closer to the person you are meant to be. Keep pushing forward, keep fighti

Exploring the Spiritual Significance of Shadow Work

In our journey toward self-discovery and spiritual elevation, shadow work stands out as a profound practice that fosters deep personal and spiritual growth.  Often misunderstood or overlooked, shadow work integrates the hidden parts of ourselves, promoting healing and transformation. But what exactly is shadow work, and why is it spiritually significant? Understanding Shadow Work... Shadow work, a concept pioneered by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, involves the exploration of the unconscious parts of our personality that we typically repress or deny. These are aspects of ourselves that we might find uncomfortable, shameful, or unacceptable, which Jung described as the "shadow." Engaging in shadow work is about acknowledging and embracing these aspects, rather than allowing them to manifest in destructive ways. This process requires honesty, introspection, and a willingness to face parts of ourselves that we might prefer to ignore. The Spiritual Significance of Shadow Work... 1
